Recognize that you are a sinner in need of a savior
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
understand that there is a debt to be paid for sin
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
recognize that jesus christ paid your debt
“But God commendeth His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
make a decision to follow jesus and believe that he died and rose again for you
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
ask him in good faith to save you
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
A simple prayer
Father God, I am a sinner. I know that I have fallen short of the glory of God. I know that the wages of sin is death, but I also know that the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, my Lord.
I ask You for Your forgiveness. I confess that Jesus is Lord of my life. I believe that He suffered, bled, and died for my sins, and that You raised Him from the dead. It is only through Him that I can be saved.
From this day forward, I will follow my Lord Jesus all the days of my life.
