# Standing on the Unshakable Foundation of Christ
When marital trials arise, feeling grounded can seem nearly impossible. Yet, God calls believers to anchor their lives and covenants not on fleeting emotions or uncertain circumstances, but on the enduring truth of Jesus Christ.
## Scripture Focus
The Apostle Paul reminds believers in First Corinthians chapter three, verse eleven that no person can lay any foundation other than the one already established, which is Jesus Christ. Furthermore, Jesus teaches in the Gospel of Matthew chapter seven, verses twenty-four and twenty-five that whoever hears His teachings and puts them into practice is like a wise builder who constructed a house upon the solid rock. Even when severe storms beat against that house, it does not collapse because its structure rests securely upon the rock.
## Reflection
In seasons of deep strain, it is easy to fix our focus on the instability around us. We may look at broken communication, emotional distance, or personal pain and wonder how restoration is possible. True hope, however, does not originate from human efforts or visible progress. It stems from the unchangeable character of God.
When we anchor our lives in Christ, our identity and peace no longer depend on daily marital outcomes. We are enabled to respond with patience, grace, and humility, knowing that the Lord is actively working in hearts—starting with our own. Building on Christ means seeking His wisdom daily, entrusting our spouse to His care, and committing to honor our covenant vows regardless of immediate circumstances.
## Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being our firm foundation and unwavering anchor in every season. Forgive us for the times we rely on our own strength instead of trusting in Your perfect wisdom. Grant us the courage to build our lives and covenant marriages upon the rock of Jesus Christ. Strengthen our hearts with patience, fill us with Your peace, and guide our steps in love and truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
## Next Faithful Step
Take fifteen minutes today to sit quietly with the Lord. Bring your worries regarding your marriage to Him, write down one practical way you can demonstrate Christlike grace to your spouse this week, and commit that effort to God in prayer.
